Statement of Beliefs

Bibliology

We believe in the Plenary Verbal inspiration of the traditional canon of Scripture; it is the infallible Word of God in all matters of life and doctrine (2 Tim. 3:16; 1 Cor. 2:13), and it is completely relevant today for every area of the human experience because it is living and active (Heb. 4:12).

Theology

We believe in the triune God who is both Three (2 Cor. 13:14; Matt.28:19) and One (Gal. 3:20; 1 Tim. 2:5); the Father (John 6:27), Son (Romans 9:5) and Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 3:16) are all God. We believe that the Trinity are co-eternal, co-equal, and yet with unique function (John 5:17; 14:10).

Christology

We affirm a Chalcedonian Christology of the Second Person of the Trinity, distinct Person from the Father and Spirit, yet of the same substance, two Natures in One Person (Divine and Human), and believe that Jesus Christ is God of God, the Son of God (John 3:16), was incarnated as a human (John 1:1, 14; Heb. 2:17), was born of a virgin (Matt. 1:20; Gal. 4:4), was crucified (Philippians 2:8), was buried (John 20:1-12), and was resurrected (1 Cor. 15:3-5), and is seated at the right hand of God on high (Mark 16:19; 1 Peter 3:22).

Pneumatology

We believe an Athanasian Pneumatology, that the Holy Spirit is God of God, a distinct Person (John 14:16-26; Eph. 4:30; Heb. 10:29) yet of the same substance, sent by the Father (John 14:16) to equip the Body of Christ with grace for work (1 Cor. 12:7-11); the Holy Spirit has replaced Jesus here on earth (John 14:16-26; 15:26; 16:7), is received at salvation (Rom. 8:9), and helps with our weakness by enabling us to live victorious, bold, Christ-like lives (Rom. 8:26).

Angelology

We believe that angels are created personal beings (Col. 1:15-17; Jn. 1:3) who worship God (Heb. 1:6; Rev. 5:8-13), serve God (Ps. 103:20; Rev. 22:9), whose express purpose other than worshipping God is to serve the purposes of God by serving humanity in redeeming God’s world (Hebrews 1:14; Acts 8:26; 10:3; Luke 16:22). Angels have a will (James 2:19; 1 Peter 1:12) and can either choose to serve God or the devil (James 2:19; Jude 6).

Anthropology

We believe that humanity is made in the image and likeness of God (Gen 1:26-27) and is intended to have dominion and rule over God’s creation as a deputized imager of God’s good purposes (Gen. 1:28); man is a triune being possessing a body, soul and spirit (Gen. 2:7; Heb 4:12), has fallen because of his choice to sin (Rom 3:23; 5:12), and becomes a new creation at the point of salvation  (2 Cor. 5:17).

Hamartiology

We believe that all of humanity has willfully sinned (missed the mark) and fallen short of God’s righteousness (Rom. 3:23; 5:12); sin is willful transgression of the law of God (1 John 3:4;
Joshua 1:18) and deserves death (Rom. 6:23); sin has separated humanity from God because God is holy (Is. 59:2; Is. 6:3; Ps. 5:4); sin can only be cleansed by the blood of Jesus (Eph. 1:7; Rom. 5:10) applied by the confession of faith (Romans 10:9).

Soteriology

We believe that Jesus Christ is the only plan for God’s salvation of humanity (John 3:16-17; 14:6; Acts 4:12); that while we were still enemies of God, Jesus died and was raised for our justification to appease the wrath of God (Rom. 5:10; 1 Thess. 5:9;); we believe we are saved by believing faith—confessing with our mouths and believing in our hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead (Rom. 10:9-10; Eph. 1:13).

Ecclesiology

We believe that the Church is the Body of Jesus Christ, who is its Head (Eph. 1:22-23; 1 Cor. 12:13); that the purpose of the Church is to be built up and made beautifully into the Bride of Christ fully matured and presentable at Jesus’ Second Coming, without spot or wrinkle (Eph. 4:11-17; Eph. 5:27); we believe the Church is the only project that Jesus is building (Mt. 16:18; Rev 2-3) and is a pillar of truth to the world because of the abiding story and presence of Jesus (1 Tim. 3:15) as mediated by the Holy Spirit (Eph. 3:17; Rom. 5:5).

Eschatology

We believe that Jesus will come back once the same way He came, on the clouds (Acts 1:11; Matthew 24:30), that Jesus is coming back for the saints, His Church (1 Thess. 4:16-17) and to glorify them (1 Cor. 15:50-54); we will be caught up in the air, transformed in glory, and brought back to the earth whereupon Christ will sit in judgment, separate the wheat from the chaff, renew the earth, and reign as King forever. We believe that God is creating a new heavens and new earth where man will dwell forever with God (Is. 65:17; Rev. 21:1).
